描述: [1552.0] Master ordered ship's bow turned to place accommodation upwind of leakage: course adjusted to bring wind 30 degrees on port bow, ensuring toxic gas plume blown clear of accommodation and engine room air intakes. Speed reduced to minimum. Terminal informed of situation and cargo stop. [1554.0] Chief Officer conducted head count: all crew accounted for. EEBD issued to all crew members. All crew confirmed carrying personal EEBD on their person throughout remainder of drill. [1555.0] Ventilation to accommodation and engine room stopped immediately: all ventilation fans shut down, fire dampers closed, air conditioning switched to internal recirculation mode (ISM Code §8 — Emergency preparedness, IBC Code Ch.14). All external doors and portholes confirmed closed. [1558.0] Fire pumps started and main fire-fighting pipeline pressurised. Water spray curtains activated around manifold area to suppress toxic vapour cloud. Deck shower system on accommodation forward bulkhead activated. Boundary of affected area cordoned off with warning tape. [1600.0] Response team of four crew donned SCBA sets and chemical protective suits (full-body, vapour-tight). Portable multi-gas detector (O2, LEL, H2S, CO,CO2) and personal gas monitors calibrated and tested. Entry briefing conducted by Chief Officer with clear communication protocol established. [1603.0] Response team entered affected area with gas detector leading. H2S readings monitored continuously: at manifold 50ppm, at accommodation bulkhead 2ppm, at engine room vent intake 0ppm — confirming upwind positioning effective. Leakage source located: simulated cracked flange on vapour return line. [1606.0] MSDS for current cargo (hydrogen sulphide-containing crude oil) consulted: H2S IDLH 100ppm, TWA 10ppm, STEL 15ppm. Recommended PPE double-checked against actual worn equipment — confirmed adequate. Emergency phone numbers from MSDS posted at bridge and muster station. [1610.0] Vapour return line isolation: upstream and downstream valves closed to isolate the leaking flange section. Line depressurised to cargo tank vapour space. Remaining vapour bled to vapour recovery system (simulation). Leakage stopped confirmed by portable gas detector — H2S reading zero at source. [1614.0] Area ventilation commenced using mechanical blowers to disperse residual gas. Gas monitoring continued at accommodation air intake, engine room vent, and bridge level — all readings at zero. Water spray curtain maintained until gas-free condition confirmed throughout affected area. [1618.0] Second head count: all 27 crew still present. No crew reported symptoms of H2S exposure (headache, nausea, eye irritation — all negative). Medical team confirmed ready with oxygen resuscitator and first aid chest. Roberson stretcher staged at muster station. [1621.0] Radio warning issued on VHF Ch.16: "All ships, MV LXH at XX terminal, toxic gas release contained and neutralised, situation under control, no further hazard". Terminal and port authority informed. Company Emergency Response Team updated. [1623.0] Atmosphere in accommodation and engine room tested with portable gas detector: all spaces confirmed gas-free. Ventilation restarted section by section with continuous monitoring. Air conditioning returned to fresh air intake mode after three complete air changes. [1626.0] Response team decontamination: SCBA removed only after confirmed gas-free conditions. Chemical suits hosed down on deck (contained run-off), suits removed and bagged for cleaning. Responders checked by medical team — all OK. Decontamination area secured and cleaned. [1630.0] All toxic gas response equipment cleaned, inspected and re-stowed: SCBA cylinders recharged or replaced, chemical suits cleaned and repacked, gas detectors recalibrated, EEBDs collected and inventoried, absorbent materials replenished. Equipment register updated. [1634.0] Incident report prepared: time of detection, gas type and maximum concentration, source location, actions taken, wind and weather conditions, personnel exposure (none), and recommendations. Submitted to Master, Company and port authority as required by ISM Code §8. [1637.0] Master held drill debriefing in crew mess. All 27 crew attended. After-action review: detection and alarm time, crew upwind positioning, SCBA donning speed and procedure, gas detection technique, isolation and containment effectiveness, ventilation shutdown/restart sequence, and MSDS consultation. [1640.0] Debriefing concluded. All equipment restored to standby.
