描述: [1650.0] PA announced "Helicopter rescue drill — all crew to assigned stations". Master assumed command on bridge as general commander. Direct communication with helicopter established on VHF Ch.16: ship's position (XX°XX'N XXX°XX'E), course 180°, speed 8 knots provided.
[1651.0] Second Officer maintained continuous VHF Ch.16 watch and relayed helicopter pilot's instructions to Master. Ship identification details provided: "MV LXH, orange hull with white superstructure, orange smoke signal will be deployed on approach". Helicopter ETA confirmed at 20 minutes.
[1653.0] Clear landing/winching area designated on main deck forward of accommodation (ICS Guide to Helicopter/Ship Operations). Area cleared of all loose objects, mooring ropes, fenders and equipment. Deck inspected for tripping hazards. "H" symbol drawn in white at centre of clear area.
[1655.0] All obstructions in vicinity of pick-up area removed or firmly secured. Accommodation ladder and gangway nets removed. Antennae and mast stays checked — no overhead wires within 30m radius of the pick-up area. Ship's whistle and siren isolated to prevent accidental sounding.
